GRAND RECEPTION IN HONOUR OF A WORTHY SON OF WAKIRIKE AS ANCIENT OGOLOMA KINGDOM CELEBRATES VC, RSU.


The Ancient Ogoloma Kingdom come alive as they rolled out the drums, fly the flags in colours of precision and glamour in celebration of one of her illustrious sons, Alabo, Professor, Isaac Zeb-Obipi OgulachaII, following his appointment as the 12th Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU).
In a message issued at the event by the Amanyanabo of Ancient Ogoloma Kingdom, His Majesty King Emmanuel Tamunoigbeinbia Ibiagolika Obudibo, Ikwo V, on behalf of the Ancient Ogoloma Divisional Council of Chiefs, and the entire people of Ogoloma Kingdom, the appointment of the Vice Chancellor was described as a well-deserved recognition of Professor Zeb-Obipi’s outstanding academic accomplishments, exemplary leadership, transformational and unwavering commitment to human capacity development.
The King noted that Professor Zeb-Obipi has distinguished himself through years of dedicated service to the advancement of higher education, earning widespread respect within academic and professional circles in Rivers State and beyond.
The statement further expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Rivers State, HE. Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for finding Professor Zeb-Obipi worthy of the prestigious position and entrusting him with the leadership of the state-owned Citadel of learning.
According to the King, the appointment reflects confidence in Professor Zeb-Obipi’s capacity to provide visionary leadership, promote academic excellence, and drive institutional growth and innovation in the Rivers State University.
While celebrating the remarkable achievement, the people of Ancient Ogoloma Kingdom prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for the Vice Chancellor as he continues in the office. They also expressed optimism that his tenure would usher in a new era of progress, transformation, and continued excellence for the institution.
The King concluded by reaffirming its pride in Professor Zeb-Obipi, describing him as a worthy ambassador and distinguished son of Wakirike whose accomplishments continue to imbibe honour and recognition to his people, urging him to make them proud.
Speaking at the event, deputy leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Amaopuerembo Hon. Linda Somiari-Stewart DSSRS, joined the people of Ancient Ogoloma Kingdom in celebrating the Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Isaac Zeb-obipi, describing him as an inspiration to generations of young and old Nigerians.
Somiari-Stewart spoke during a grand civic reception organised by the Ancient Ogoloma Kingdom in honour of the academic scholar and administrator at Government Girls Secondary School, Okumbga-Ogoloma.
The colourful event attracted the Amanyanabo of Ancient Ogoloma Kingdom, traditional chiefs, elders, political leaders, academics, community stakeholders, students, and admirers who gathered to celebrate the Vice Chancellor’s appointment, achievements, and contributions to educational development in Rivers State and beyond.
Addressing the gathering, Somiari-Stewart said Prof. Zeb-Obipi’s rise from Ogoloma Kingdom to the peak of academic leadership remains a testament to the values of discipline, hard work, integrity, and commitment to service.
She praised the Vice Chancellor for his dedication to excellence and leadership, noting that his accomplishments continue to inspire people across Rivers State and beyond.

Amaopuerembo, commended the Amanyanabo, Council of Chiefs, elders, and the people of Ogoloma Kingdom for organising what she described as a befitting reception in honour of one of the kingdom’s distinguished sons.
According to her, celebrating excellence and recognising outstanding achievements would encourage younger generations to pursue greatness and contribute meaningfully to society.
On his part, the Pro Chancellor of Rivers State University, Okey Wali described the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zeb-Obipi as a pragmatic and seasoned administrator whose appointment has brought the institution to an enviable dimension. The Pro Chancellor used the medium to thank the King, Chiefs and the entire Ogoloma Kingdom for celebrating Zeb-Obipi, adding that the Chief Ogulacha he knows is a transformational and enigmatic leader whose humanitarian service starts in Ogoloma and has transcended the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. Chief, Professor Zeb-Obipi is worth the celebration, he noted.
In his thank you speech, the Celebrant and Guest of Honour, Alabo, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi Ogulacha II, thanked the Amanyanabo in Council, HRM. King Emmanuel Tamunoigbeinbia Ibiagolika Obudibo, Ikwo V, Chiefs, Men, Women, Youths, the entire Ogoloma Kingdom and the Okrika Nation at large for the Honour done him. He said the celebration is a testament of the joy of a people happy with development and growth. He thanked the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS for finding him worthy of the prestigious appointment amidst several qualified persons in the line.
Professor Zeb-Obipi also thanked the Pro Chancellor, Governing Council, and all those who amidst their numerous busy schedules find the time to celebrate with him and wished all well for the gesture. To his most cherished wife, children and family, Zeb-Obipi thanked them for standing by him.
The occasion was used to present a meowing machine and a giant power generator to coppers in Government Girls Secondary School, Okumgba, Ogoloma, to enhance their service delivery while service in the school.
The peak of the event was the show of varieties of cultural displays in a well-coloured and dressed event galore of men and women of all walks of life.
Prof. Zeb-Obipi, a renowned academic giant and administrator, currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University.
