Prof. Zeb-Obipi Donates over N3.5 Million Cash Gift to RSU for Security Gadgets
Members of the Rivers State University Senior Staff Club have celebrated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, on the occasion of his birthday, commending his visionary leadership and significant contributions to the growth and development of the University.
The celebration, which brought together members of staff from across the University, was marked by goodwill messages, camaraderie and expressions of appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and commitment to the advancement of Rivers State University.
As part of the celebration, members of the Senior Staff Club raised over N3.5 million as a cash gift for the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of his leadership and service to the University.
However, in a gesture that further underscored his commitment to the institution, Prof. Zeb-Obipi graciously donated the entire N3.5 million cash gift back to Rivers State University for the procurement of security gadgets.
The Vice Chancellor directed that the funds be handed over to the Acting Chief Security Officer for the immediate purchase of essential security and surveillance equipment to strengthen security operations across the University.
Prof. Zeb-Obipi expressed his appreciation to members of the Senior Staff Club for the thoughtful gesture, describing the donation as a demonstration of solidarity, unity and commitment to the progress of the institution. He noted that the decision to redirect the funds to the University was borne out of the need to further enhance security surveillance and ensure a safer environment for staff, students and other members of the University community.
He also expressed gratitude to members of staff and the University community for their continued support and commitment to the administration, assuring the University community that the funds would be judiciously utilised for the intended purpose.
Popular comedian Angel D Laugh, who graced the occasion, moderated the cutting of the cake, while Great Mind Sound, popularly known as “My Wife Say,” provided energetic gyration entertainment.
