- BISHOP ATUBOYEDIA URGES CHRISTIANS TO FOCUS ON GOD’S VERDICT, NOT HUMAN OPINIONS.
The Rt. Rev’d. Dr. Enoch Atuboyedia, JP., has called on Christians to remain steadfast in integrity and focus on what God says about them rather than the opinions of people.
Delivering a sermon during the Episcopal Visit and Service at New Covenant Church, Okochiri Missionary Parish, Bishop Atuboyedia reminded the congregation that people will always have something to say about others, sometimes spreading falsehood and sometimes speaking the truth.
He noted that while negative comments and false accusations can be painful, believers must not allow such words to determine their actions or weaken their faith. According to the Bishop, what truly matters is God’s judgment about a person, not human criticism.
The Bishop explained that many people act out of hatred, malice, or prejudice, which often leads them to misjudge others regardless of their good efforts. He cited situations where individuals, particularly women, strive tirelessly to please their families but are still rejected because people have already made up their minds against them.
Drawing from the biblical story of Job, Bishop Atuboyedia emphasized that despite accusations made against him, Job remained faithful, maintained his integrity, and continued to shun evil. He therefore encouraged Christians to remain upright and faithful even in the face of criticism and hostility.
He warned that believers must never allow prejudice or false accusations to push them into wrongdoing, stressing that maintaining integrity is key to living a life that pleases God.
The Episcopal visit also featured several important church activities, including Confirmation, Admission into the Women’s Guild, Mothers’ Union, and the Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF), as well as a Thanksgiving service.
