The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cleared 14 political parties to contest the August 8, 2026, governorship election in Osun state. A statement issued on Saturday in Osogbo by Musa Olurode, INEC’s state public relations officer, showed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) were not cleared for the election. An Edo State High Court sitting in Benin on Friday granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million to Osaze Adùn, popularly known as “Kapuepue,” over allegations of assault, harassment and brutalisation of renowned journalist and media executive, Dr Don Pedro Obaseki.
