President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and commander in chief of the armed forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced Kayode Egbetekun as Police IGP with a former commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olatunji Disu. Mr Egbetokun was appointed by President Tinubu as the 22nd IGP on 19 June 2023. It was reported that the tenure as IGP of Kayode has since expired, but allowed to serve by the President.
